Minimalist appetizers

You can also use thin slices of crisp apple with pickled plain on top of rye flatbread to create another classic treat. For another tasty treat smear some mustard or butter on to some bread. Top it off with thinly sliced chunks of sear skirt steak and sprinkle it with coarse salt. 

Crab meat with minced shallots also makes for a great topping on bread and crackers. This can be accompanied with tarragon and parsley. Use some mayonnaise to bind the toppings together. This treat can be prepared on lettuce leaves as well. A mixture of tuna, minced garlic, chopped oil cured olives, minced olives and olive oil is another great idea to serve upon crackers.

If you want to go for New York style comfort food then there are plenty of options at bay. Use bagels or black bread as the base. Spread some cream cheese on it surface and top it off with sable, sturgeon or lox. Soft goat cheese brushed with olive oil sprinkled with salt and pepper and rolled in bread crumbs makes a great baked treat. This one has to be baked at 350 degrees and served hot.
