The internal flaw of Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer is amongst the most popular browsers used by millions of people around the world. The current version of the browser by Microsoft Corp has its users under a constant threat of being hijacked through the internet. It has been observed that the current version of the browser has a major security hole in its software.

The company has been unable to breach this security problem until now and users of the browser are still at risk and many of them are unaware. The major flaw in the browser allows the user to be tricked into visiting websites that are loaded with malicious programming code. The browser flaw has been compromised by more than 10,000 sites since last week. This report was issued by the makers of the anti virus software Trend Micro Inc.

The bulk of the sites that have managed to take advantage of the flaw are Chinese. These sites serve programs that are used to steal passwords for different computer games. These illegally obtained passwords are then sold in the black market for lots of money. This is however the least of the problems that the security holes in internet explorer has posed for its users. The more serious problem lies in the fact that the flaw can be used by criminals that have a bigger financial motivation and can cause some very serious damage.

The software makers are dumbfounded by this flaw and have been unable to successfully over come the current problem. The longer they take the more opportunities lay open for criminals on the internet. Users are in a very vulnerable situation because they have very limited resources to save themselves from the criminals that will be making use of this flaw.

The majority of the world’s computers have internet explorer as their default browser. The company has admitted that it is the version 7 of the software that has the security problem which happens to be the most widely used version of the software. The company also issued warning confessing that other versions may also have the same problem hence users must watch out until Microsoft announces that it has managed to curb the problem.
