The new engine will cost slighter more than currently available price, it could be around Rs 40,000 more than current price of Alto. The new version will become a direct rival of 1000 CC Chevrolet Spark which price starts at around 3.15 lakh. But company is not going to stop selling the current 800 CC Alto; customers can buy the current and the new version 1.0-litre variant both.

Justice G S Singhvi dismissed the appeal filed by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) challenging the Delhi High Court judgment. On July 30, 2009 Delhi High Court asked to all Two-Wheeler dealers in the Capital to sell helmets along with the vehicle, incase the rule was not followed then vehicle would not be registered.

The Supreme Court asked to manufacturers that they would have to sell helmets certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BSI) as “original equipment”. Senior advocate PS Pathwaria and Counsel Vipin Nair argued that “The high court order would restrict the people’s choice to buy their own helmet and would force a person to buy a helmet again when he buys a new two-wheeler”.

The petition stated that “It is also possible that in a particular case the purchaser may be buying a second vehicle and, therefore, may already have a helmet. In such circumstances, he would be obliged to buy a second helmet”.

Though, Supreme Court was not convinced and said, “Let there be more helmets. When you are buying a second scooter of Rs 40,000, then you can buy a helmet also, which is of Rs 300 only.”

SIAM said that High Court made a serious mistake in the rule that all customers will purchase helmets only from Two-Wheeler dealers, it curtailed freedom of the purchaser to purchase helmet from open market.

In a step to improve the evacuation of iron ore, the largest mining company of India called the NDMC is planning to set up a 3000 crore pipeline which has the capacity of 12 million tones per annum. This will be set up out of Chhattisgarh. The truth is that the last year naxal attack hit the product pipeline in an adverse manner.

As per the statement of the chairman and managing director of NDMC rana som, the 424 km pipeline that will be established between the Bailadila   mines of Chhattisgarh and the port of vizag will help in the evacuation of products that were affected because of the damage due to the existing pipeline.

The CMD further said that the establishment of the pipe will pave way for the expansion plans from 22 to 23 million tones to 40 million tones and all this will happen in the next four to five years. This development will be a great help to the domestic customers like essar steel and RINL.

The completion process of the pipeline will take place by October 2012; the NDMC will finalize the contractor which will operate the pipeline on behalf of the company.

Apart from this, NDMC will set up a plant with a capacity of 2 million tone of steel in a joint venture with Nippon steel. It will be made in negotiation with Japanese steel mills at the cost of 10,000 crore.

New smart cars will send useful information to authorities’ during accident. Researchers are developing smart cars, equipped with aircraft-style black boxes.

These cars can send video footage and other information like, driving behavior, vehicle speed, steering and braking during accidents which help to the police and insurance companies.

The smart car is being developed at Intel. It will record video footage from inside and outside the vehicle along with speed braking ad steering information.

The information would be sent to the police and insurance companies automatically during accident. The information will help to know the reason of accident and identify the responsible person.

The Telegraph reports, Researchers at Intel are creating an intelligent car. Researchers are developing technology that will convert cars into smart and intelligent cars, which will able to detect dangers on the road and also able to take over control from driver.

Intel in Santa Clara, California revealed the technology at a research showcase.

Justin Ratner, director of Intel Laboratories and chief technology officer said that, “We are looking at a whole range of enhancements that will improve the driving experience, safety and security of vehicles.

The intelligent vehicle is what we are talking about here. Once a car is connected, more or less on a continuous basis, all sorts of interesting possibilities present themselves”.

“With vision systems on cars, it is perfectly reasonable for a car on its own to see the sign that says ‘wrong way’ or ‘do not enter’ and bring the vehicle to a halt at the side of the road so we don’t have these senseless accidents where someone has failed to recognize a sign.” he further added.
