The Shoe throwing was a “Well-Deserved Insult” according to North Korea

While the US President George W. Bush has brushed aside the shoe throwing incident himself, the act has attracted comments from all around the world. Amongst the comments that were targeted at scorning the President was the one made by North Korea’s government newspaper when it said that the US President deserved the shoe being thrown at him.

The newspaper published the comment in a commentary that was entitled “Well-Deserved Insult”. Minju Chosun in his writing said that Bush was fortunate to have missed the shoe strike otherwise he would have had the prints of the dirty shoe soles printed upon his face.

The article was published on a media website on Friday. The article further went on to condescend the Presidents’ brave faced reaction by likening it to “a cock soaked in the rain”. This is an ancient Korean proverb that seeks to describe the situation of a person who has fallen from a high status to a shameful one.

Minju Chosun further added in his article “It was folly for Bush to appear recklessly for a press conference aimed at trying to win favor from Iraqis in a country where anti-US sentiment is reaching the sky. “The US power-holder subjected him self to greater disgrace as he attempted to embellish his failed policy in Iraq. It is unnecessary to add he was showered with derision and laughter.”

The incident has been commented upon by many important people from around the world. Amidst the others who have commented on the incident is Malaysia’s foreign minister who praised the Iraqi journalist now behind bars for aiming to strike Bush with his shows. He termed it as a natural consequence of the invasion of Iraq. The foreign Minister said “The best show of retaliation so far is the shoe throwing act by that remarkable reporter who gave President Bush his final farewell last week,”

Venezuela’s charismatic leader Hugo Chavez also made a sarcastic remark regarding the incident where he praised the shoe thrower’s courage. Comedy programs around the world have made fun of the incident and even video games where you have to aim at a ducking Bush with a shoe have been released on the internet.
