Today Hoffman lives on at the age of 71 with a prolific career of forty years under his belt. The latest flick that Hoffman is staring in is “Last Chance Harvey” as he continues to impress the audience with his performance.

Dustin Hoffman plays a jazz pianist in the movie and confesses that he always wanted to be one in real life and still does. Hoffman actually got to perform on stage with musical legend sting at a benefit program earlier in the year. The Hollywood actor actually wrote a song that was sung by sting at the event.

The gifted actor is not looking to become a musician at the age of 71 but has always had the passion for it. He confessed that the only reason he took up acting was because he failed to become a musician.

The world renowned actor started off at the Broadway where he struggled to get on stage for over a decade. Another renowned actor that was struggling with him in the Broadway was Gene Hackman. The two are still good friends.

The actor explained the feeling that he got from constantly being rejected by the Broadway. He explained that it always kept him in uncertainty regarding his own worth as an actor. He got his first break in Mike Nichols movie “The graduate” at the age of 29. He played the role of a 21 year old confused young man.

The producers of the film were not to impressed with Hoffman’s performance and were certain that the movie flick was a box office failure. Much to everyone’s surprise it became a huge hit and Hoffman became an overnight success as he got nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. There is no stopping Hoffman now even at the age of 71.
