The irony is that Jose Andres is actually quite optimistic about launching his restaurant. Of course Andres is no fool, he knows that the economy is plundering and people don’t have the kind of money that they used to have to spend on fancy food but he also believes he has the recipe for success.

Jose Andres is adamant on making “The Bazaar” one of the most successful recession era restaurants by giving customers a menu that is extremely diverse in nature along with having truly unique items that they will not be able to find anywhere else.

The Bazaar is set to the theme of a Middle Eastern souk that is bustling with activity. It offers people the chance to drink and dine in various hang out spots such as a cocktail bar, traditional tapas spot, a modern tapas space along with a complete patisserie full of deluxe candy jars.

The restaurant gives customers the chance to move about from one section to another in order to experience the ambiance of the environment along with the flavor of the food. The Bazaar also gives customers the opportunity to stroll into the design boutique in order to buy some souvenirs such as replicas of the Titanic or paparazzi celebrity photos.

There is no doubt about the fact that the majority of people are on a tight budget these days. Andres says you can get delicious food in a few small plates for under ten dollars.

The celebrity chef who made it big with his cooking show “Made in Spain” says regarding the economic crisis “Of course, I am worried. You can only not be worried if you are a multimillionaire not invested in anything and with cash in the bank.”

Last Friday however The Bazaar was bustling with a crowd much like the actual Mideast Souk is during the holiday season. But naturally Andres was extremely pleased by the crowds that came in to experience the Bazaar amidst the economic crisis.

Long lines of senior citizens, young parents and middle aged workers could be seen lined up outside the suburban center patiently waiting to receive free food handouts. The handouts included canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter and other staple items to help them get through the day.

A volunteer for The Shawnee Community Center that was handing out the food items said “We are seeing more people this Christmas than last Christmas for sure a lot of people are hungry.” It is a common sight to see long lines of people outside food pantries these days with the nation hit by the severest recession of the century.

The increase in emergency food assistance has been more than thirty percent in the last couple of months according to statistics released by Feeding America which supports 63000 agencies across the country. Feeding America is the largest hunger relief organization of America.

With the economic recession tightening its grips around America the expected number is likely to increase in the year 2009. Unemployment is on the rise which is straining the charity groups who in turn are calling upon Washington to grant them more federal assistance.

More than 533,000 jobs have been lost in the month of November only. This has been the highest monthly layoff in thirty four years. With the trends taking on such horrific form the holiday season may go hungry for a lot of individuals struggling to cope up with the economic turmoil and its consequences.

A spokesman for the largest charity organization in America said “We’re in a crisis. Absolutely,” acknowledging the change in lifestyle that has come about as a result of the current situation that the country has plundered into.

The police used a battering ram to break into the Cherry Pit on Saturday night. They had their weapons drawn and made a complete search of the entire joint as they had a search warrant. The police had received reports that prostitution and money laundering was taking place under the roof of the Cherry Pit and they were here to collect some solid evidence.

There had been reports indicated that the Cherry Pit was actually a business oriented around sexual activity. Basically it served the purpose of a sex club and that too in a residential area.

The individual who reported the incident of the police storming into the Cherry Pit said that a huge group of people in black broke down the door of the house to enter and then conducted a thorough search of the place with their weapons drawn. All those present in the Cherry Pit at the moment were in a state of shock.

Initially the police had intended on going in through the door had anyone answered it. They decided to draw their weapons and make use of the battering ram when no one would answer the door. The police could only find five hundred dollars in cash along with some DVDs and CDs and business cards of the Cherry Pit. No arrests were made at the spot nor were any citations issued.

The storming of the Cherry Pit however has taken things a step further towards bringing the illegal activities of the joint to an end.
