US president brushes aside the shoe throwing incident

The shoe throwing incident instigated by the Iraqi journalist has captured the attention of the global media. The journalist used the conference to vent out his anger at the US president by throwing his shoes, one after the other at the President. The President has however brushed aside the incident saying that he has “no hard feelings” about the journalist who committed the act.

The flinging of the shoes was accompanied by swearing as the journalist also called the US President a dog. The shoe throwing journalist known as Muntadar al-Zaidi has however become a hero in the eyes of many Iraqis who have hailed the man’s courage.

On the flipside the debasing incident has attracted global criticism as it was a rather indecent act that has brought shame to the country. The global media has however been kind enough not to hold the entire country responsible for the emotional and immature act of a journalist.

While the journalist had taken his best shot at George W Bush, the president managed to duck the first flinging show and the second went right passed by him. The President’s initial response was “All I can say is that it was a size 10”. The calm reaction by the President made it clear that he did not take it as such a big offense in the first place. The comments made by the President later on further elucidated the fact that there were no hard feelings on his part.

There were great concerns regarding the fate of the TV journalist who had attempted to strike the President with his shoes. The public was of the notion that he would be handed over to the US authorities and they would have dealt with him accordingly. On the contrary the US has left it up to Iraq to prescribe the punishment for the shoe thrower.
The mayhem that followed the throwing of the show left Muntadar al-Zaidi with a broken arm, internal bleeding and some broken ribs. The journalist is still under custody while the case is being considered by the authorities.
