Florida gives Wisconsin another embarrassing defeat

Florida’s performance against Wisconsin got Bowden commenting “It looked like the old Florida State out there, not that we’re there, but we looked like we used to.”

Bowden was delighted to see a big play offense with some hard hitting and opportunistic defense during the match which ended with Florida at 42 and Wisconsin at 13.

It has been for the first time since the year 2004 that Florida has managed to secure eight wins in a series. Bowden had an impressive track record with nine victories being a given for his team. He managed to achieve that in seventeen of the eighteen seasons that he was part off. In recent years his performance has gone down.

Florida has been missing many of its key players who are all set to make a come back next season. This gives Bowden even more hope of securing better results in the upcoming season.

Dekoda Watson and Derek Nicholson were spot on with their turnaround touchdowns converted from fumbles. Two TD passes from Christian Ponder got him in the land light and punter Graham Gano earned the MVP of the match.

During the match the senior player Nicholson made two fumble recoveries. He managed to return one over 75 yards that got the first quarter score. Gano had an impressive average of 48.2 yards on five. He also managed to get three downs inside the five of the Badgers that earned him the MVP of the match.

Ponder with his 18 for 31 for 199 yards said “Once we got our feet on the ground, we were almost unstoppable out there, we got into a groove and every one was making plays.”

Sherer from the losing Wisconsin side was recorded as saying “I was disappointed in everything out there; I didn’t make the plays we needed. They made it tough on us early with the punts, but we really kind of shot ourselves in the foot and allowed them to do that.”

For Wisconsin the match was yet another slap in the face in a season that they would not like to remember. The team was at the number eight position at the start of the year but has lost valuable ground due to poor performances during the year. Wisconsin couch said regarding the victorious opponent’s performance “That was a huge play, I didn’t think they would overturn it.”

Lakers manage to defeat long standing rivals, the Celtics

With the latest victory the Lakers managed to secure over the Celtics they will be able to put their embarrassing performance in the NBA finals and the series behind them.

The Lakers were spear headed by NBA superstar Kobe Bryant who scored 27 points to secure the win for his team. Bryant also made nine rebounds and five assists during the match. Pau Gasol also played an important role by scoring 20 points with 7 of them coming in the closing three minutes of the match. The final score ended with the Lakers scoring 92 with the Celtics lagging behind at 83.

The victory of the Lakers over the Celtics has brought their 19 match winning streak to an end. The game was a first between the two sides after a long gap. Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson could not be any more delighted with his team’s win as it was his one thousandth victory for the team as coach. This has been a milestone for the 63 year old coach.

Jackson has an impressive record as coach with a thousand wins against 423 losses in a total of seventeen plus seasons. He has coached the Chicago Bulls as well. With his thousandth victory he surpassed Pak Riley to become the fastest coach to have hit the thousand mark.

Jackson was recorded as saying “Here we are, a game that’s been pointed to since the schedules came out,” before the match began. The two teams have been long standing rivals and have previously met each other eleven times in the NBA finals.

The history of their matches shows that the Celtics have always had an upper hand on the Lakers but the last match however went in the favor of the Los Angeles team.

Initially it seemed that the Celtics were all set to steal the match from the Lakers who did not seem to be up to par with the performance of Kevin Garnett who put his team on the lead. With Kobe Bryant stepping up his game the Lakers were able to bounce back and defeat their longstanding rivals.

Hayden not willing to give up the fight

The recent bad patch that the explosive opening batsmen Michal Hayden of the Australian team has been going through might result in him being dropped from the side in the upcoming series.

The out of form batsmen has many people considering whether it is time for the 37 year old to retire from the world of cricket. Michael Hayden on the other hand is not ready to give up his place in the team let alone retire.

Not having scored a century since January and averaging a poor 23.50 runs in the last seven Test matches that he has played there seems to be no place for him in the team if such bad form continues.

The batsmen said that he would see how it goes for him in the three match Test series against South Africa and he would then base his future on his performance in the series. He said “I really want to play good Test match cricket for this next series and then see where we are at,” He further commented “You feel slightly uncomfortable, slightly uneasy about it (being dropped) but that’s part of the great challenge of playing for your country and exactly why I want to play Test match cricket for Australia.”

His over all career average is nothing short of impressive at 51.34. He has been a leading force in Australia’s rise to the top ever since his debut back in 1994. The left hander has however been totally out of form for the past one year.

Australia’s cricketing press is unforgiving when it comes to poor performances from highly talented players like Michael Hayden. His position at number one was challenged by the press after he managed to score four and twelve in the two innings against rivals South Africa in the first Test at Perth.

Hayden however claims that he is hungry for more and has the ability to get more. The explosive batsman is looking to add more to the impressive total of thirty test centuries in the coming series. He said “my expectation is that I’m performing every Test match and if that’s not the case then I’m vulnerable like everyone else.’
